Have you ever wanted to grow in knowing WHY you believe what you do? As a follower of Jesus, we know you’d like to sharpen your theology, but it can be hard to do that during the school year. Summer of Theology is a ten week experience that exists to strengthen your spiritual core, all while you take summer school classes, complete an internship, or work a summer job.

In a cultural moment when some are questioning their faith, others may be even deconstructing their faith, and still others are wanting to grow in their faith,  we are pleased to offer Summer of Theology, not just to Cru students, but also to the broader body of Christ. Our prayer is Summer of Theology will  serve the Body of Christ and movements around the country to strengthen students theologically. Originally an innovation born from COVID-19, Summer of Theology is a great opportunity for students who are unable to participate in a Summer Mission, or maybe have already experienced a Stateside and International Summer Mission, and want more training.

Overview:

Summer of Theology is a ten week experience that strengthens a participant’s spiritual core. Using Cru’s interactive web-based tool called Core Doctrine, coaches will guide students through an interactive experience surveying the breadth of Christian beliefs and doing so in community by meeting weekly with a coach and other students from around the country.  Summer of Theology exists to equip students to return to the fall semester as a spiritual leader better equipped to make a difference.

Outcomes:

  • That participants gain a greater motivation to know, love and worship the triune God and reflect God’s character as an image-bearer.
  • That participants gain a greater confidence in the Scriptures as the Word of God and final authority shaping their lives.
  • That participants experience a deepening understanding of and commitment to the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith.
  • That participants discover that Christian theology isn’t just about right beliefs (orthodoxy – Side A) but also right practice (orthopraxy – Side B)
  • That participants grow in their capacity to relate the foundational doctrines of Scripture to personal growth, evangelism, discipleship, movement-launching, cross-cultural mission.
  • That participants’ deeper understanding overflows into a greater motivation to share the gospel of grace.
  • That meaningful relational connections be made between staff/volunteer coaches and student participants.

What Participants are Saying:

“The content was biblically sound and saturated with gospel truth. The videos and additional articles were exceptional.”

“Learning more than I ever imagined I would learn and learning how much more information is out there that I did not even know existed.”

“I love how everything was broken down and there were TONS of references to back up what is being taught.”

“…God used it to convict and teach me what he was trying to tell me at exactly the right times.”
